Wardell Armstrong officially became part of SLR Consulting in October 2024, culminating in the formation of a world-leading advisory, environmental, and engineering consulting group with the experience and expertise to address the unique challenges faced by the mining and minerals industry. Together with WAI, SLR takes a multidisciplinary approach at all stages of the mine life cycle from first discovery right through to closure and remediation.

SLR has extensive experience and expertise in all commodities, including precious, base, battery and ferrous metals, coal and industrial minerals, and across all major mining jurisdictions around the world. The world-leading consulting group supports clients throughout the mining lifecycle, from exploration and discovery to resource and reserve definition, valuation and financial appraisal, development and operational optimization to mine closure, reclamation and rehabilitation. SLR’s unique ability to offer end-to-end solutions to the mining industry is backed by its in-house processing facility and internationally recognised ESG team, which is highly skilled in addressing the environmental and social risks and challenges faced by the industry today. SLR advises and supports both private and publicly listed mining and exploration companies, from juniors, to mid-tier, to major groups, as well as financial institutions, governments, law firms, auditors, and specialist and individual investors on the technical and commercial aspects of mineral property development.

SLR has been involved with the UK’s Geothermal industry since the 1980s, starting with the DTI funded Hot Dry Rocks project. They collaborated with Geothermal Engineering on the United Downs geothermal power project in Cornwall in 2009 and remain actively involved. SLR has since worked on seven other deep geothermal projects, providing licensing, consenting, engineering, and technical expertise to ensure their success and profitability.
