Congratulations to Professor Peter Scott, who was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award at this year’s Extractive Industry Geology (EIG) Conference, at the University of Hull.

Peter has been an active and long-standing member of the EIG organising committee and was a founding Director of the company set up to run these events in 2008.  He had previously chaired or co-chaired the 1992, 1998 and 2000 conferences, as well as giving the prestigious Ansel Dunham lecture in 2006.  He has also edited several volumes of the conference proceedings. The committee decided to recognise Peter’s outstanding contributions to EIG, and, fittingly, to present the award to him at the University of Hull, where he had previously worked as a Lecturer and Senior Lecturer in Economic Geology for many years, from 1972 to 1989.  Coincidentally, Peter had decided that the conference in Hull would be his last as a Director and member of the organising committee, though he still intends to remain part of the wider consultative committee.

He is pictured here (centre) receiving the award from Dr. Alan Thompson (left), EIG co-Director and Chairman elect for the next conference at Liverpool University in 2026, and Craig Arditto (Tarmac Ltd (right).
